very unusual and visually distinctive all original c. 1930's american machine cast brass "speed ring" illuminated wall-mount theater exit light fixture with intact white opalescent glass globe

all original and unusually designed fully functional c. 1930's american art deco machine age single-sided illuminated exit light fixture attributed to the mcphilben mfg. co., brooklyn, ny. the remarkable fixture contains a centrally located half-sphere comprised of white opalescent glass with the original slightly worn baked blacked enameled lettering applied to the outer surface. the pressed glass sphere is nestled between two tapered "speed rings" comprised of cast brass with knurled edging. the backside contains a brass cradle containing the original white porcelain or ceramic incandescent light bulb socket. the saturn-esque shaped exit light is unusually diminutive in size, bu the visual impact it makes is most impressive. the single theater fixture has been refinished. measures 4 3/4 inches in diameter.
