very rare early 20th century american antique beardslee lighting fixture traveling salesman specialty plate finish samples with fold-over pouch

all original set of twelve original and intact light fixture "specialty finishes" used by a traveling salesman and/or lighting agent representing the beardslee chandelier mfg. co., chicago, il. founded in 1901 by frank s. beardslee, the light or lamp company was one of the largest fabricators in chicago. offices, warehouses and factories were located along jefferson avenue in chicago. each rectangular-shaped sample plate is comprised of various metals (e.g., iron, bronze, brass) with a specific or "specialty" finish applied. the plates bear the very elaborate logo or design with a shield bearing the name "beardslee" along with their popular trademark incised below. samples include, but not limited to, english silver, french gilt, scoured iron, pewter and gold, weathered brass and so on. the plates were likely manufactured by the beardslee chandelier company. the original brown felt fold-over compartmentalized pouch with snap button is intact and in great condition.
