very unique c. 1900's antique american ornamental flush mount interior residential passage door backplate possibly fabricated by the p. & f. corbin co., new britain, ct. the fanciful iron backplate with unique profile, contains a brushed metal surface slightly darkened with an oil-rubbed metallic bronze enameled finish. the fluted or grooved thimble or collar remains in great condition. measures approximately 6 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches.
