unusual oversized early 20th century american industrial original chicago public school exterior galvanized tin facade sign plaque with deeply embossed or raised lettering

largely intact highly unique original early 20th century american industrial exterior chicago school system building facade galvanized tin "public school" plaque possibly fabricated by the friedley-voshardt company, chicago, ills. the long and narrow oversized sign was salvaged from a city of chicago public school building built around the turn of the century (1895-1910). the deeply embossed tin plaque or panel was the center section of an elaborate tin cornice adorning the early brick schoolhouse building. the raised unornamented border provides added dimension. the letters are largely intact with usual wear and tear consistent with the age. measures 86 inches in length by 15 inches in height. remarkable all natural surface patina. measures 14 1/2 x 2 x 86 1/2 inches.
