original late 19th or early 20th century antique american victorian era ornamental cast iron residential fireplace summer cover surround designed and fabricated by bridgeford & co., inc., louisville, ky. the heavy cast iron surround with deeply embossed intricate allover leafage retains the original baked black or "japanned" enameled finish. salvaged from a chicago greystone residence undergoing demolition. measures 30 1/2 x 30 1/2 inches.
