original late 19th century antique american victorian era ornamental cast iron interior residential summer cover salvaged from a chicago graystone residence built around 1895. the unique figural summer cover or grate features a fully dressed chambermaid holding a serving tray. the slightly recessed central panel contains an egg & dart border. original knob pull intact. uniform black enameled finish. fabricated by the fischer-leaf foundry, louisville, ky. manufacturer markings lightly embossed on the backside. measures 24 x 27 inches.
