uniquely designed c. 1900's antique american decorative cast iron fireplace gas insert or grille designed and fabricated by bridgeford & company, louisville, ky. the refinished fireplace grille retains the original detachable summer cover with textured surface. dentil borders are used throughout. the ash grates and/or guards feature geometric design motifs. the surround contains a partially intact copper-plated finish. salvaged from a chicago residence constructed around 1909. measures approximately 30 1/2 x 30 1/2 inches.
