original and intact 19th century antique american fanciful gridded panel consisting of beveled edge rectangular-shaped mirrored glass panels secured within lead caming containing a gold leaf finish. salvaged from the extant david c. cook mansion, located in elgin, il. the bendable panel was originally enclosed within a small built-in nook containing a gasolier wall sconce. the silver nitrate coating has a nicely worn and weathered finish (e.g., black streaking) caused by moisture, etc. priced for the panel as a whole. exact fabricator unknown. dates to 1885. measures approximately 33 x 24 inches.
