very unique and hard to find early 20th century antique american industrial lady stocking leg form fabricated by or for the old paramount knitting factory located in kankakee, il. the evocative object of industrial art is comprised of steel, with original highly polished nickel-plated finish largely intact. the weathered and worn cast iron bracket is tightly affixed to each of the leg form. contains lightly incised double-sided markings corresponding to size and/or shape. the unique form was originally used in a manufacturing process known as "boarding", whereby the pantyhose or stocking is stretched over a dry or moist leg form or "board" and subjected to steam and/or heat treatments employed to achieve the desired size and shape. measures approximately 10 x 59 inches.
