early 20th century antique american cast iron and steel folk art in the form of a civil war howitzer cannon. the two large opposed and perforated cannon carriage wheels were salvaged from a worchester lawnmower company "harvard" lawnmower. the two wheels contain various manufacturer markings including a patent date of 1906. the distressed wooden axle box is original and structurally sound. the trail is made of welded and bolted wrought iron components. the cannon or barrel consists of a threaded end pipe with cap or plug, along with embossed part identification numbers. the pile of two welded together projectiles (one less than pictured) are large solid steel ball bearings with an allover rusted surface patina. traces of an old blue paint finish evident. measures 26 x 10 x 12 inches.
