exceptional all original late 19th or early 20th century antique american victorian era solid quartered oak wood interior residential fireplace mantel fabricated by or for the sturm and spiegel furniture company, chicago, ills. the salvaged chicago half-mantel features curvaceous corbels with chamfered legs accentuated with unusual outswept plinth blocks. the residential mantel retains the original varnished finish. great overall condition, considering age. another similar mantel and richly colored tile surround were salvaged from the same chicago two-flat built between 1896-1905.
