Unique polychromed slip glaze oversized exterior chicago commercial building "sullivanesque" terra cotta cartouche

oversized finely executed early 20th century antique american polychrome glazed "sullivanesque" building facade terra cotta fragment likely fabricated by the american terra cotta company, chicago, ills. the oversized glazed terra cotta fragment features several design elements used by both louis h. sullivan and george grant elmslie. the highly stylized brilliant green colored floral elements are similar to terra cotta used in sullivan's bank buildings after 1900. the building from which the two (see other listing) fragments were salvaged from is not known. allover crazing evident. the partial cartouche retains the rear cavities or "webbing." measures 32 x 10 1/4 x 16 inches.
