one of two very unusual early 20th century original antique american antique informational doorbell push button plaque designed and fabricated by or for lussky, white & coolidge, inc., chicago, il. the flush or surface-mount escutcheon plate warns "salesmen, beggars and peddlers" to not call attention to or solicit the occupants of a home and/or commercial business. the nicely aged cast brass plaque contains a single hole that once housed the push button used to engage the interior electric doorbell. the opposed screw holes located at the top and bottom of the backplate are used for mounting purposes.
