medium-sized early 20th century antique american antique forged steel or iron ice block transport tongs possibly fabricated by the j. g. bodenstein & co., staatsburg, ny. the refinished ice tongs are fully functional and free from damage. the metal handles have a very simple and clean form. the riveted or pinned joint centrally located hinge works with ease. the two slats contain pointed ends for securing and transporting blocks of ice. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures 16 3/4 x 7 1/8. slats measure 19 inches when fully extended.
