SKU: UR-33805-22
Bld. 51 Museum Collection
recast iron elevator door module from adler and sullivan's guaranty building (1896).
with the exception of the staircase, nearly all of the metal ornament in the guaranty's lobby was ripped out in the 1950's.
in addition to the elevator doors, an original ceiling escutcheon and a few elevator doors were rescued from being scrapped.
the building's lobby has since been restored, including replicated elevator enclosures, ceiling fixtures and sconces (with period appropriate vaseline glass shades), etc.
the building's original exterior and interior metalwork was executed by the winslow brothers foundry, chicago ills.
the recast was an extra from the 1983 lobby restoration.
