original antique american late 19th or early 20th century decorative cast bronze interior residential doorknob backplate possibly fabricated by reading or the p. & f. corbin company. the passage door backplate contains scroll-like ornament or volutes along the top and bottom. the backplate has been darkened with an oil-rubbed bronze finish. measures approximately 9 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches.
