all original 19th century antique american interior residential passage size "jet black" doorknobs and matching ornamental cast iron escutcheons designed, patented, and fabricated by the chicago hardware company, chicago, il. each doorknob contains a tightly affixed oversized iron and/or brass shank designed specifically to accommodate the chicago-niles mortise lock. the "screwless spindle" doorknobs are comprised of fired red clay with a jet black porcelain enameled finish. the ornamental cast iron doorknob backplates have been completely refinished. the hardware was salvaged from a gold coast chicago mansion built around 1887. 15 matching sets available. priced individually (includes two matching doorknobs and two cast iron escutcheons or backplates).
