original late 19th century american victorian era solid white oak wood interior residential staircase landing boxed newel post retaining the original varnished finish aged gracefully over time. intricately carved designed elements include foliated scrolls featuring the ever popular acanthus leaf. remarkably, the finely turned newel cap or finial remains intact. additional ornament (applique) runs vertically along the recessed panels. manufactured by the huttig sash & door co., st. louis, mo. additional staircase components from this particular house salvage are available. measures 74 inches in height.
