completely intact and all original late 1920's american interior illuminated lobby directional aisle sign possibly fabricated by or for the chicago stage lighting company. the wall-mount deeply etched glass panel was salvaged from the non-extant lawndale theater constructed on chicago's west side in 1927. the theater was designed by william p. whitney & the r. levine company. the glass insets were mounted in decorative cast plaster enclosures or "light boxes" fabricated by the decorators' supply company, chicago, il. the removable aisle sign with deeply etched lettering contains a brilliant ruby red coating known as "flash glass." excellent overall condition.
