hard to find and completely intact early 20th century freestanding "fireproof" compartmentalized city of chicago courthouse filing cabinet designed and fabricated by the canton metal art company, canton, oh. the structurally sound and solid metallic filing device contains a total of 36 matching pull-out vertical drawers with spacious interior compartments. the drawers are outfitted with pressed yellow brass oversized handles and placard holders. the filing cabinet contains a mostly uniform brushed metal finish. the cabinet can serve many functions in a wide range of design settings. likely dates to 1909-1918. measures 32 x 14 x 72 inches.
