exceptionally well-maintained original and thoroughly documented (i.e., provenance/paperwork) wall-mount autograph time recorder purchased and installed in the massillion refractories company factory in 1919. this type of unusual and hard to find time recorder was specially adapted for places where arrival and departure of employees were irregular. when registering time of arrival or departure, each employee was required to affix his or her signature in the place provided (i.e., roll of paper that also contained the date "stamp." remarkably, the wind-up keys, clock cabinet lock with key, ink rolls and paper are original and intact. the pendulum is fully functional. the clock keeps time. the lever on the left and the "gong" bell located within the cabinet are in working condition. the factory from which the time recorder was salvaged from specialized in "alumite" smelter bricks used in the ceramic and/or brick industries. the oak cabinet retains the original varnished finish. the recording device was designed and fabricated by the cincinnati time recorder company, cincinnati, oh. the enameled steel clock face with minute and hour hands are in great condition, considering age. measures approximately 17 x 13 1/2 x 27 inches.
