exceptional early 1920's original american gargantuan mahogany wood double-sided partner desk possibly fabricated by the o.c. & olsen desk company, chicago, il. the oversized stationary desk was originally used by detectives in a downtown chicago police station. each side contains two opposed modules consisting of three equally-sized sliding drawers with original bronze knob pulls. the solid wood pull-out writing shelves are original and intact. the lockable drawers above the knee space retain the original brass yale & towne cylinder locks (original keys lost long ago). the eight slightly tapered post legs with original cast bronze "shoes" are completely intact. the two-way desk remains in good shape, considering age. the desk has been refinished and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the cast bronze trimmings are refinished. only one available. measures approximately 66 x 54 x 30 inches.
