single hard to find original antique c. 1854-1856 rich cobalt blue blobtop pontiled soda bottle fabricated for philadelphia bottler j. george schoch. the low, sloping shoulders are finished with a long narrow neck and an intact applied blobtop that features whittling, bubbles, and some wear at the lip edge. the front body is embossed "j.g. schoch / philad.a" with a raised end-letter in the city name. on the reverse is a solid bold "s". at the base is a kickup with heavy residue from the iron pontil. concentric seams around the shoulder area suggest it was manufactured in a three-piece mold. crudity is typical of its age and date of manufacture, including whittling, bubbles, and minor surface wear.
