hard to find and original c. 1914-1918 die cut steel evangelical church service signage fabricated for a pennsylvania based united brethren in christ church . the oversized single-sided sign is comprised of heavy gauge cold-rolled steel with a faded olive colored porcelain enameled finish. it features a simple decorative border and white lettering that reads "the first church united brethren in christ" above various worship and service hours, and lists the pastor as "paul f. mickey". there are approximately ten holes along the outer edges for mounting flush against a wall. surface discoloration and minor loss of porcelain occurs at a couple edges. the church service sign was fabricated by the ingram-richardson sign co., beaver falls, pennsylvania. the church structure was built around 1914. paul f. mickey served as pastor there from 1914-18. the church of the united brethren in christ is an evangelical christian denomination headquartered in huntington, indiana. it is a protestant denomination of episcopal structure, arminian theology, with roots in the mennonite and german reformed communities of 18th century pennsylvania, as well as close ties to methodism. it was founded by martin boehm and is the first american denomination that was not transplanted from europe. measures 27 x 21 inches.
