two matching original 19th century antique american victorian era ornamental cast iron "chicago style" newel posts with mostly uniform black enameled finish. the freestanding newel posts were designed and fabricated by the dearborn foundry co., chicago, il. the exterior newel posts feature unique embossed ring ball finials resting atop pedimented bases. the newel posts were salvaged from the outdoor stoop of a chicago single-story victorian brick cottage undergoing demolition. the floor or base plates containing pre-drilled holes remain pasrtually intact. the dearborn foundry manufactured several different sizes of this particular design. originally installed at the stoop landing and reinforced with interconnected tubular iron rails, supported by brackets mounted on the stone treads leading to the entrance door. priced for the pair.
