intact c. 1850's original antique american iron-pontiled soda or mineral water bottler fabricated by or for cairns timmermann block & co., bottler, st. louis, mo. the privy dug bottle has a nicely aged patina. the untumbled bottle has a deep "lick up" or "improved" iron-pontiled base with very faint traces of iron oxide evident. the long and crude neck contains a slightly tapered applied lip or collar. the embossed or raised lettering is very bold and legible. the backside of the bottle's body contains the location (i.e., st. louis) of the bottler's operation. surface crudities consistent with age and process of fabrication by being hand blown in a hinged mold. good overall condition, considering age.
