all original and intricately designed late 19th century american sullivanesque style commercial building mail slot fabricated by the yale & towne mfg. co., stamford, ct. the "parma" pattern hardware was purportedly used in the bayard-condict building, designed and built by louis sullivan in 1897-99 (the only commission executed by sullivan in new york city). the "letters" mail slot contains remarkably detailed embossed leafage surrounding a centrally located spiral-scroll. the hinged "flap" covering the slot features fanciful embossed lettering. mostly uniform patina throughout. exceptional casting quality evident.
