original mid-1870's ornamental cast iron new york city "soho district" cast iron building facade pilaster capital fragment with curvaceous leaves

remarkable all original and heavily ornamented cast iron exterior building facade pilaster capital fragment salvaged from a historically important new york city "soho district" loft building. the building with complete cast iron facade, was constructed in the mid-1870's. the deep relief capital fragment was possibly fabricated by helca ironworks, new york city, ny. the 19th century antique american ornamented fragment contains a nicely aged surface patina with traces of an older paint finish. bolt holes are found in multiple locations, but do not detract from the overall design. the curvaceous leafage and centrally located floral motif exhibit crisp detail. the building was demolished during the 1960's or early 1970's.
