intact american antique black enameled ornamental cast iron gridded fireplace screen designed and fabricated by the peerless mfg. co., louisville, ky. the iron summer cover features overlapping neoclassical design elements in the form of floriated swag, ribbons and bellflowers. the black enameled surface finish is mostly uniform. dates to 1895-1900. measures 20 1/2 x 20 inches.
