original late 1930's american industrial kelsey-hayes factory office all-metal barrister stackable bookcase with brushed steel finish

hard to find c. 1930's american industrial four-unit, shallow cabinet barrister bookcase designed and fabricated by the general fireproofing co., youngstown, oh. the freestanding pressed and folded steel cabinet was salvaged from a kelsey-hayes factory office. each stackable cabinet is completely self-enclosed, with hinged and/or sliding clear glass panel door equipped with a diminutive knob or pull. the cabinet contains both the top crown and four-legged base. the exterior brushed metal finish has been sealed with a clear coat finish. the kelsey-hayes brass inventory tags are riveted along the front and back of the barrister cabinet. kelsey-hayes was based in michigan, known primarily for their automotive parts (i.e., brake pads), but also machine guns and tank components fabricated during the second world war. measures approximately 35 x 10 3/4 x 75 inches.
