original early 20th century single-sided flush mount cast bronze chicago building plumbing system builders' plaque with opposed screw holes

hard to find c. 1900's american industrial single-sided diminutive builders' plaque removed from a chicago commercial building sub-basement steam fitting system abandoned long ago when a newer mechanical or forced ventilation system was added. the plaque was fabricated by or for the d.m. quay company, co., and/or the w.g. cornell works of chicago. cornell and quay worked together as plumbing contractors for large scale commercial buildings during the first half of the 20th century. the small plaque contains a black enameled inlay to accentuate the raised lettering. two opposed screw holes are for mounting purposes. measures approximately 4 x 2 1/2 inches.
