hard to find early 20th century "new old stock" rectangular-shaped cast bronze single-sided elevator cab or car signal plaque or backplate designed and fabricated by or for the otis elevator company, new york city, ny. the solid bronze metal plaque retains the original baked black enameled finish in the recessed regions. the two openings are designed for the buttons that would "call" the elevator cab. the original cardboard backing is included with the backplate. black enamel is found in the screw holes, indicating it was never installed. nice aged surface patina. 8 x 3 inches
