c. 1900's fully functional american antique interior residential ornamental cast iron baseboard heat register or grate fabricated by or for the hess warming and ventilating company, chicago, il. the grate features a lattice design accentuated with floral motifs found at each intersection. the ornamental surround mounts flush against the wall. the single sheet steel louver pivots with ease. contains a mostly uniform black enameled finish. salvaged from a chicago residence built around 1905. multiple grates available in this pattern. measures approximately 14 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches.
