single-sided heavy gauge steel early 1920's american industrial porcelain or vitreous enameled cold-rolled heavy gauge steel "toilet" factory lavatory door sign designed and fabricated by the burdick sign company, chicago, il. the elongated oval-shaped sign contains a metallic gold leaf pinstripe border surrounding the dark cobalt blue lettering set against a white background. the bathroom sign contains surface wear and discoloration consistent with age. the two opposed screw holes are used for mounting purposes. good overall condition, considering age. measures approximately 10 x 2 3/4 inches.
