hard to find mid-nineteenth century vibrant medium green blue glass blobtop soda bottle manufactured for pacific soda works. the high, steep shoulders are finished with a long, narrow neck and an intact applied blobtop. the neck contains whittling and at least one stretch mark. the front body is simply embossed "pacific / soda / works" with some slight casewear. this is an example of a "generic" soda bottle that could have been used by any number of western bottlers. it contains a smooth base. the bottle has been lightly cleaned but not tumbled, and so appears with spots of discoloration or haze. pacific glass works was the first truly successful glass maker west of the rockies and in business from 1862-1876 when it was combined with the san francisco glass works to form sf & pgw.
