19th century american eastlake style "oriental" pattern interior residential passage door backplate designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the doorknob backplate is comprised of cast iron with a partially intact copper-plated finish. the wrought brass collar or thimble remains tightly affixed to the backplate. measures approximately 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches.
