group of four original matching wall mount pressed brass metal flush receptacle plates salvaged from an old chicago bank building. each plate contains two mounting holes flanking the central opening, once containing a 250 d.c. or 440 a.c. plug receptacle. expected surface wear throughout. originally mounted above the baseboards within a room adjoining the vault. the bryant electric company was founded by waldo c. bryant in 1888 in bridgeport, ct. mr. bryant's invention of the first "push-pull switch" was granted patent # 391943 on october 30, 1888 and thus began what is today known as, "the wiring device industry". unprecedented growth soon followed with the dawning of the age of electricity. bryant was purchased by westinghouse electric corporation on april 10, 1901 and became a feeder plant for westinghouse manufactured appliances. within five years bryant became the largest manufacturer of wiring devices in the world. priced for the lot of four. measure approximately 4 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches
