highly desirable 19th century city of lansing (michigan) park bench. fabricated by the prominent e.t. barnum, wire & iron work co., detroit. dates to 1888-95. comprised entirely of wrought iron with a contoured seat and backrest for added comfort. features a nicely distressed old green paint finish. barnum was founded by eugene t. barnum in 1866, with a small store on located on woodward avenue (detroit, mi.), making a few articles in ornamental wire work. the city park bench measures 6 feet in length. the height of the seat is 17 inches.
