original and expertly-built c. early 20th century american freestanding hard maple wood butcher block table with finely turned legs

remarkably intact c. 1900-10 american vintage industrial freestanding hard maple wood butcher block table likely fabricated by john boos & co., effingham, il. the remarkably heavy work table is supported by four finely turned matching legs with bun feet. the assembled cutting block featured end-grain construction for added strength and durability. the cutting board surface exhibits considerable wear and tear, consistent with age and frequency of use. the massive threaded steel through bolts are structurally sound and secure. the slightly protruding metal end caps (used to conceal the bolts) are original and largely intact. the primitive wood knife rack and/or holder remains intact. salvaged from an early 20th century family-owned chicago butcher shop. measures 31 x 25 x 32 inches.
