original well-worn american antique industrial sandblasting helmet or hood fabricated by the safety equipment service company, cleveland, oh. the reinforced helmet or mask is comprised largely of hand-stitched canvas with portions around the eye shield and ear opening coated in rubber. the interior contains a fitted "hat" the wraps tightly around the workman's head. the interchangeable lens built within the rectangular-shaped eye shield was lost or remove long ago. the unique industrial mask was salvaged from an old northwestern indiana steel mill. measures approximately 22 inches high.
