largely intact late 19th century original and intact salvaged chicago victorian era ornamental cast iron interior residential fireplace gas insert designed and fabricated by the dawson brothers, chicago, il. the insert contains two oppose pilasters with fluted shafts and decorative capitals. intricate foliage is found above the hood. mostly uniform early black enameled paint finish. salvaged from a chicago mansion built around 1895.
