19th century original and intact antique american salvaged chicago ornamental cast iron residential fireplace gas insert or grate designed and fabricated by the lion gas stove company, chicago, ills. the fireplace grate features a stepped protruding hood flanked by lionheads. the two detachable beaded iron grilles are free from damage. two nearly identical grates available. salvaged from a chicago two-flat built between 1889-1892.
