original well-maintained 19th century american eastlake style cast brass "ceylon" pattern residential entrance door doorknob backplate designed and fabricated by the p. & f. corbin company, chicago, ills. the decorative wrought brass door plate contains two keyholes with the master retaining the original and intact swinging keyhole cover. the surface finish is mostly uniform throughout. the escutcheon measures approximately 7 1/4 x 1 3/4 inches.
