all original and highly desirable antique american ornamental cast bronze interior residential "compass rose" pattern doorknob designed and fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain, ct. the drum-shaped bronze doorknob contains a lightly incised banded edge. the backside has the name of the manufacturer wrapping around the centrally located shank. the original baked black enameled finish remains largely intact. nicely aged patina mostly uniform throughout.
