very unique c. 1930's american vintage medical hospital maternity ward repurposed mobile bassinet with all-welded tubular steel frame. the basket (originally designed for use with a small mattress) is comprised of light gauge overlapping strap metal attached to a rigid frame supports by the tubular posts. original diminutive bassick swivel casters are in great shape and fully functional. the custom-built detachable varnished hickory wood planter box or multi-purpose storage compartment fits tightly in place with the protruding outer edges resting on the frame. the brushed metal finish has been sealed with a cleat coat finish. the bassinet stand was fabricated by the shampaine co., st. louis, mo. measures 30 1/4 x 16 1/4 x 31 1/2 inches.
