original oversized single-sided black enameled ornamental cast iron rothschild nurse's residence (1929-2009) marble fireplace mantel frieze panel. the exact fabricator is not known. the cast iron panel was likely custom-designed. the nurse's residence was one of several early 20th century buildings belonging to the michael reese hositpal campus. the building was designed by the architectural firm of schmidt, garden and martin. great overall condition.
