original american depression era art deco machine age "guardsman junior" table or desk lamp. the "sight-saving" streamlined style electric portable table lamp was designed and patented in 1937 by bert dickerson, assignor to the faries manufacturing co., decatur, il. the lamp is comprised largely of spun yellow brass with "original "normandy" bronze finish largely intact. the cast brass ball finial is accentuated with two graduating "speed" rings. weighted cast iron base contains a green felt pad. the lamp had been rewired. on/off dial mounted on the base remains in excellent working condition. some wear evident along the saucer-shaped reflector or shade.
