massive interior residential italianate style solid walnut salvaged chicago staircase newel post designed and fabricated by palmer, fuller, and company, chicago, ills. the box-shaped newel post with simple pyramidal-shaped top, was removed from a chicago cottage built in 1876. the original curvaceous oversized handrail and turned and tapered spindles are available separately. the entire staircase is comprised of solid black walnut wood painted years ago. the newel contains multiples recess panels, corners columns, and arches. great overall condition.
