rare and hard to find lot of four intact antique c. 1880's cream and tan colored ginger beer style pottery beer bottles manufactured for various english and scottish bottlers. three of the lot are identical in height and shape, with weiss style shoulders tapering into a wide neck and applied collar. a single bottle in the lot is mead shaped, with a flared shoulder that tapers into an applied collar. each bottle is similarly manufactured with a two-toned glaze, appearing tan above the shoulder and cream or oatmeal colored on the lower half. each features a round stamp at the heel with the manufacturer's name. one bottle is identified as an imported english ale "1" fabricated by midland pottery at melling, near liverpool, england. a bottle was fabricated by alexander buchan in portobello, scotland, and another by h.kennedy barrowfield potteries in glasgow. the last bottle exhibits a crude stamp placement right on the heel, with lettering worn to illegibility. measure approximately 8 1/2 inches in height. priced fro the lot of four.
