original 19th century cast bronze exterior residential push button doorbell housing or backplate designed and fabricated by the sargent hardware company, new haven, ct. the nicely aged or patinated backplate contains a centrally located opening where the push button was installed. the bronze metal backplate contains two screw holes for mounting purposes. great overall condition, considering age. measures 3 3/4 x 2 x 3/4 inches.
